Why I Commit to Equity in Education

Most established systems of schools, and organizations more broadly, reinforce patriarchy and white supremacy. This perpetuates a culture that keeps individuals and groups from doing their best work. I coach to liberate and empower educators so they can create equitable learning communities with and alongside young people. I invite collective liberation from the ways systemic oppression takes form within oneself, relationships and groups. When adults experience authentic diversity and inclusion within their teams, they can then be freed up to learn (and unlearn some things) in order to promote a similarly equitable community where their students can learn and thrive.

It is this vision that compels me to reimagine the possibilities within the field of education.

  • Love

    It all begins with love — a love for young people, community and learning. I embody love through attentive and sensitive listening. This allows collaboration with others to co-learn and co-create solutions.

  • Curiosity

    My curiosity drives my desire to learn, wonder and ask questions that lead to deeper understanding. I will not end up having all the answers but will cultivate a spirit of inquiry around some better questions.

  • Authenticity

    I am sincere and genuine. I speak the truth with love to promote healing, equity and liberation. I communicate openly without trying to appease others.
